The Hernando County Central GIS provides accurate, reliable, and innovative geospatial solutions to support county operations, public transparency, and community planning.
Our team maintains authoritative datasets including parcels, addressing, road centerlines, boundaries, and aerial imagery. We collaborate with county departments, municipalities, emergency services, and regional partners to ensure consistent, up-to-date geographic information.
A coordinated, centrally managed Geographic Information System supporting countywide mapping and enterprise data stewardship.
The mission of the Hernando County Central GIS is to coordinate GIS functions with the Principal and Additional Participants, together with other public and private organizations, in order to provide a mechanism for producing, maintaining, and updating the county base map as well as other county layers in a centrally located, jointly maintained, electronically accessed Geographic Information System.
In addition, Central GIS shall encourage enterprise information management solutions, and to reduce redundant and disparate data collection.
The Interlocal GIS Program provides a collaborative framework for participating agencies to coordinate authoritative geospatial data, maintain shared standards, and support reliable countywide mapping services used for planning, public access, and operational decision-making.
